I AM AT HOME HERE

SEPTEMBER 2012 - JANUARY 2013

“Every evening I go for a walk up a local hill called ‘The Billing’. For the short period of time between 8 and 9pm I can escape the socially driven, multisensory world that I, as a human being, have to inhabit. It is here where I feel most at home.”

There is a time, a place where only the knowledge of ones self is enough. When others pool empty thoughts, mirrored by their own reality, I escape to another world.

The sun dips and the identity of immediacy can reveal itself to the humble. Untangling myself from the growth that holds me, my eyes adjust to the darkness. I am at home here.

To speak would be to brand one’s identity to the complex clarity of the surroundings. All that is needed is a subtle glimpse to capture a fleeting second, and my mind is fulfilled.

The outsider remains entangled; their initial thought is to flee this inhospitable land. Escape futile, the darkness engulfs all they hold dear and sucks it into the night. Time lurches to a halt.

Their mentality begs to conform as they play a part in a nightmare from which they will never wake. With emotion tying them to the realities of a favoured way of life, they are lost.

In an unknown place incoherent minds are lead astray and only a mask can reveal one’s inner being. Reality is far from rational but it clings to the knowledge of truth. I am at home here.
